Pro LabTM Mold Test Kit

Mold Test Kit*

Medical studies have found that molds are the number one causes of allergic symptoms. The mold Stachybotrys atra found in home and office environments has been linked to fatal pulmonary disorders.

What is Mold?
Molds are microscopic organisms found virtually everywhere, indoors and outdoors. Mold spores are very tiny and lightweight and easily detached by airflow, vacuuming, walking on carpet or sitting on a couch. In indoor environments they grow in air-conditioning ducts, carpets, pots of houseplants, etc. They produce and release millions of spores, which are small enough to stay airborne, threatening to invade the human respiratory system. Mold growths can often be seen in the form of discoloration, ranging from white to orange and from geen to brown and black. In large quantities, molds can cause allergic symptoms similar to those caused by plant pollen. In order for mold to grow, it needs food sources (such as leaves, wood, paper or dirt), a source of moisture, and a place to grow.

How Do You Come in Contact With Mold?
Mold spores are found in the air and growing on damp surfaces. The following are sources of indoor moisture that may cause mold problems in your home or office: flooding, leaky roofs, humidifiers, damp basements or crawl spaces, constant plumbing leaks, house plants, steam from cooking, shower/bath steam and leaks, wet clothes, and clothes dryers vented indoors.

What Can Mold Do To You?
When inhaled, even in small amounts, mold can cause a range of health problems including respiratory problems (wheezing), nasal and sinus congestion, watery and red eyes, nose and throat irritation, skin irritation, aches and pains, fevers, and in some cases even death. Mold can also cause structural damage to your home. Exposure to mold is not healthy for anyone but the following individuals are at high risk for adverse health effects: infants, children, elderly, immune compromised patients, pregnant women, and individuals with existing respiratory conditions.

How Do You Find Out If You Have A Mold Problem?
To find out if mold is a problem in your home or office, you must test. The PRO-LAB Professional Mold Test Kit offers three (3) types of analytical methods. Method 1 (visual sampling), involves taking a sample of a visual mold growth. Method 2 (HVAC air sampling), allows you to take an air sample of the air-conditioning or heating system. Method 3 (settling plate), allows you to take an air sample of a location which does not have an HVAC system. After the 48 hours incubation period, you may choose to send your sample to PRO-LAB for a detailed analysis.

The Mold Test Kit includes: Petri dish, mold medium, information form, sterile swab.

The Mold Test Kit is safe and easy to use and provides reliable results in 48 hours.
